Introducing Be Happy's Be Mindful Video Series!

We’re thrilled to announce our brand-new Be Mindful video series—designed especially for children to help them feel calm, focussed and more in tune with their emotions. This series will bring simple yet powerful mindfulness techniques straight to your home, therapy setting or classroom, with new videos uploaded every few weeks. From deep breathing to guided mindfulness exercises, our videos are fun, engaging and perfect for children of all ages!

About This Resource

In our first video, we introduce the concept of mindful breathing through a playful and relaxing exercise: Jellyfish Breathing! As your child watches the soothing animation of a jellyfish swimming across the screen, they’ll be guided to take deep, slow breaths in sync with its movements. This exercise encourages calmness, helps reduce anxiety and builds an early habit of mindfulness.

How to Use

  1. Find a Quiet Space: Encourage your child to sit in a calm, comfortable spot with minimal distractions.
  2. Play the Video: Watch our Jellyfish Breathing video together. As the jellyfish glides across the screen, your child will follow along with deep inhales and exhales.
  3. Practice Mindful Breathing: Guide your child to take deep breaths in through the nose, filling their lungs, and out through the mouth as they follow the jellyfish’s movement.
  4. Reflect on Feelings: After the video, ask your child how they feel. They can share if they feel more relaxed, focussed or calm.

Benefits

  • Reduces Stress and Anxiety: Teaching children mindful breathing helps lower stress and anxiety levels, making it easier for them to navigate their emotions.
  • Improves Focus and Concentration: Regular mindfulness exercises help children build their concentration and focus, especially helpful for school or at-home learning.
  • Promotes Emotional Regulation: Mindful breathing helps children develop self-regulation skills, allowing them to handle strong emotions more effectively.
  • Encourages Relaxation: This video series provides a moment of peace and calm in the day, perfect for winding down after school or before bed.

Where to Use

  • At Home: A great way to introduce mindfulness into your daily routine, whether it's before bedtime or during a calm-down corner break.
  • In the Classroom: Use it during quiet time or after active play to help students regain focus and feel calm.
  • Therapy or Counselling Settings: These videos can support children in therapeutic settings as they learn mindfulness techniques to cope with stress and anxiety.
