To help children manage their fears and anxieties in the wake of recent events, we have created the "When I Feel Scared I Can.." worksheet. This resource provides children with practical strategies to cope with feelings of fear and anxiety.

About This Resource

This worksheet encourages children to think of and write down six things they can do when they feel scared. It includes pre-suggested ideas such as talking to someone, taking deep breaths and discussing their feelings. This helps children to develop a personalised battle plan that children can use to manage their emotions effectively.

How to Use

  1. Download and Print: Start by downloading and printing the Fear Exploration Worksheet.
  2. Brainstorm: Encourage children to brainstorm and write down six strategies they can use when they feel scared. They can use our ideas for inspiration, but, we want them to find, explore and practise the things that work for them!
  3. Discuss: Talk about each strategy to ensure children understand how to apply them.
  4. Reflect: Use the worksheet as a reference during times of anxiety or fear.

Benefits

  • Emotional Regulation: Provides children with practical tools to manage fear and anxiety.
  • Empowerment: Empowers children by giving them a personalised plan to handle their emotions away from safe spaces and people.
  • Understanding: Helps children understand that fear is a normal emotion and that there are ways to cope with it.
