Friendship Charades - A Printable, Interactive Game to Teach the Values of Friendship
Healthy friendships are important for our mental health and wellbeing. We have designed this friendship values game to help children learn about healthy and unhealthy relationships. Friendship Charades is a fun, role playing game to help children learn the values of good friendships and the traits of toxic friendships. We have developed this game so that it can be played by children of all ages! See how below.
Game Features:
- Scenario Cards We have 20 scenario cards prompting children to act out scenarios of healthy and unhealthy friendships.
- Good Friend / Bad Friend Cards -Â For younger children, you can explore whether a scenario is good or bad (healthy/unhealthy).
- Values Cards -Â For older children, cut out our values and traits cards and help children identify the values acted out in each scenario!
How to Play:
- Younger Children - Split children into two groups. Cut out the Scenario cards and place face down on a table. Distribute a Good Friend and Bad Friend card to each child in group B. Ask the children in group A to select a Scenario card at random. Act out the scenario on the card, they can use our idea, or come up with their own! Group B uses their cards to say whether it is the action of a good friend or bad friend.
- Older Children - Split children into two groups. Cut out theScenario cards and place face down on a table. Distribute the Values cards to group B. Ask the children in group A to select a Scenario card at random. Act out the scenario on the card, they can use our idea, or come up with their own! Group B uses their cards to guess which value they are acting out. Discuss as a group how the value makes them feel.
You could also get imaginative and use these cards in other ways too! Whether it's exploring the values of a good friend in class or simply helping your children to understand whether their current friendships are healthy or unhealthy - or even come up with more scenarios and values yourself!
