Resource Info
Our Thought Download activity, a powerful resource designed to help children release their thoughts and worries. This visualisation exercise encourages children to download their thoughts from their mind onto paper - similarly to how they would download an app or activity on their computer or tablet - allowing them to feel a sense of calm.
By drawing a face on the accompanying monster, children can also visually represent their emotions and gain a better understanding of how they are feeling about their thoughts.
Key Features:
Thought Download: The activity prompts children to write down their thoughts and worries in the designated space, providing a structured way to capture and release their internal dialogue.
Emotion Drawing: Children are invited to draw a face on the monster, using their creativity to visually express their emotions associated with the thoughts they have written down.
Benefits:
Easing Worries: Writing down thoughts and worries can help children externalise their concerns, providing a sense of relief and allowing them to gain perspective.
Feeling Calm: The act of downloading thoughts and visually representing emotions through drawing can promote a sense of calmness and emotional regulation.
Communicating Thoughts and Emotions: The activity encourages children to express their thoughts and emotions, facilitating communication and opening opportunities for discussion with parents, professionals, or teachers.
Identifying Intrusive Thoughts: By engaging in the Thought Download activity, children can become more aware of intrusive thoughts and gain insight into the impact of their thoughts on their emotions and well-being.
Releasing Thoughts and Worries: The process of writing down and drawing the accompanying face on the monster provides a tangible way for children to release their thoughts and worries, creating space for more positive and constructive thinking.
This activity is beneficial for easing worries, promoting a sense of calm, enhancing communication of thoughts and emotions, and promoting thought management skills.
Whether used at home, in educational settings, or during therapy sessions, the Thought Download activity provides children with a valuable tool for identifying and releasing their thoughts and worries to support their emotional well-being.
