The Greenhouse of Growth - FREE Children's Mental Health Week 2025 Resources

In celebration of Children’s Mental Health Week 2025, we bring you The Greenhouse of Growth! Aligned with this year’s theme, Know Yourself to Grow Yourself, this activity invites children to reflect on the things that nurture their personal growth and well-being. Using the metaphor of a greenhouse, children will discover what helps them thrive and grow into their best selves.

About This Resource

The Greenhouse of Growth is a creative and reflective activity designed to help children identify the positive influences and support systems that contribute to their personal development. Just like a real greenhouse provides sunlight, water and protection to help plants grow, this activity encourages children to think about what nourishes their mind and growth.

Features

  • A child-friendly metaphor for self-growth and reflection.
  • Space for children to draw themselves at the centre of their "greenhouse."
  • Prompts to write or draw the people, actions and experiences that help them grow.
  • Complements our FREE Children’s Mental Health Week Presentation for Primary Schools.
  • Simple and adaptable for classrooms, counselling sessions, or at home.

Benefits

  • Promotes self-reflection and emotional awareness in children.
  • Encourages children to recognise and appreciate the support systems in their lives.
  • Supports positive mental health habits by focusing on nurturing influences.
  • Provides an engaging and hands-on activity that aligns with this year’s Children’s Mental Health Week theme.
  • Helps educators and professionals start meaningful conversations about growth and self-care.

How to Use This Resource

  1. Print out the greenhouse template for each child.
  2. Introduce the metaphor of the greenhouse as a space where growth happens, just like their mind and emotions.
  3. Encourage children to draw themselves in the circle and write their name.
  4. Inside the greenhouse, have children write or draw the people, words and actions that help them grow. For example: kind words, support from friends, encouragement from others, or trying new things.
  5. Use this activity as a standalone reflection or pair it with our Children’s Mental Health Week Presentation.

Suggested Uses

  • As part of a lesson during Children’s Mental Health Week.
  • In PSHE classes to discuss emotional health and personal development.
  • In one-on-one sessions with counsellors to explore support systems and positive habits.
  • At home with parents or caregivers as a bonding activity to talk about growth and well-being.
