My Super SATs Survival Plan – Help Children Feel Calm and Confident During SATs Week!
SATs week can be a challenging time for many children. With pressure to perform, increased academic demands, and changes to their usual routine, it’s no surprise that some may feel overwhelmed, anxious, or emotionally unsettled. That’s why we’ve created My Super SATs Survival Plan—a calm, confidence-boosting, one-page printable designed to support children’s wellbeing during their assessments. Packed with thoughtful, child-friendly prompts and fully colourable, this resource encourages emotional reflection, stress management, and self-kindness.
This engaging printable worksheet is more than just a checklist, it’s a personalised plan that puts emotional wellbeing first. Children are invited to complete prompts that help them prepare for SATs in a mindful and supportive way. With creative space to colour, doodle, and reflect, this worksheet becomes a personal tool that children can refer back to when they need encouragement, focus, or calm.
Each section of the My Super SATs Survival Plan serves a specific purpose in helping children manage stress and stay grounded:
- Ultimate Chill-Out Trick: Children write down their favourite calming strategy, such as deep breathing, listening to music, or hugging a soft toy. This gives them a go-to technique to use in moments of stress or overwhelm.
- Power-Up Plan – 3 Ways to Stay Motivated: This section encourages children to list three things that will keep them focussed and energised during the week, such as getting enough sleep, positive self-talk, or having a good breakfast each morning. It helps them recognise healthy habits that support both their body and mind.
- My SATs Mantra: Children come up with a short, positive phrase they can repeat to themselves throughout the week, such as “I’ve got this” or “Doing my best is enough.” Mantras build confidence, reduce anxiety, and create a sense of internal reassurance.
- After School Self-Care Ideas: This prompt reminds children to take care of themselves after each test. They can list fun or calming activities like watching a favourite show, playing outside, having a warm bath, or spending time with family.
- My Stress Hacks Here, children note down any tried-and-tested ways to stay calm when they feel overwhelmed, like squeezing a stress ball, journaling, writing down their worries or talking to someone. It’s a helpful reminder that they already have tools they can use.
- My SATs Sidekicks (People I Can Talk To): This prompt encourages children to think about who they can turn to for support, whether that’s a teacher, friend, sibling, or parent. It reinforces that they don’t have to manage difficult feelings alone.
- Goal for the Week: Instead of focusing on test scores, this section invites children to set a positive, personal goal—such as staying calm, trying their best, or being kind to themselves. It’s a great way to shift focus to process over outcome.
When the week feels overwhelming, children can turn to their Cape of Calm, a small creative space where they can colour, doodle, or scribble to let their emotions out.
In fact, the entire sheet is colourable, making it a fun and calming task in itself. Colouring is known to reduce anxiety and improve focus, giving children a sensory break during a busy week.
- Encourages children to take control of their emotions and wellbeing.
- Builds emotional literacy and stress-management skills.
- Helps reduce performance anxiety through preparation and personal empowerment.
