About This Resource
The My Feelings First Aid Kit is designed to help children identify strategies that make them feel calmer and more in control during tricky times. The activity asks pupils to “fill” their kit with drawings or words that represent the things that support them - such as a safe adult, a safe space or comforting object.
By creating their own personalised kit, children learn that everyone’s coping strategies are different, and that discovering what works best for them is part of looking after their mental health.
World Mental Health Day 2025
The theme for World Mental Health Day 2025 is “Mental Health in Catastrophes and Emergencies: Access to Services.” For children, this theme has been reframed into the idea of finding help and support during “tricky times.” The My Feelings First Aid Kit activity connects directly to this, encouraging children to identify the actions and strategies they can always turn to, even when things feel difficult.
