Community Reflection Worksheet – A Mental Health Awareness Week 2025 Activity for Secondary Schools.
A free, thoughtful and reflective activity to help teens explore their role in the community and understand how connection supports mental wellbeing.
Support young people in developing emotional insight and social awareness with this Community Reflection Worksheet, designed for Mental Health Awareness Week 2025. Whether completed as part of our Secondary Mental Health Awareness Week Presentation or as a standalone classroom activity, this resource invites students to reflect on both the support they receive from their community and the contribution they make to it.
Through personal reflection and optional group discussion, students begin to build a clearer understanding of how community connection underpins mental health - and how they can play an active role in making it stronger.
About This Resource
The worksheet includes two core reflective prompts:
-
How my community supports me.
-
How I support my community.
These open-ended questions give teens the space to think about relationships, school, friendships, clubs, and neighbourhoods - anything that forms part of their social and emotional world. Students can choose to write about friends who check in on them, a trusted adult at school, a sports team that brings them joy, or even a community space that makes them feel safe.
In turn, they’re asked to consider how they show up for others - whether it’s by helping at home, supporting their friends, volunteering, or simply being kind and inclusive in group settings.
Mental Health Awareness Week 2025
Held from 12th–18th May, Mental Health Awareness Week is a national initiative that encourages reflection, open conversations, and learning around emotional wellbeing. It provides a timely opportunity for schools to address mental health proactively, helping students develop the tools they need to understand and manage their feelings.
About This Year’s Theme: Power in Community
The 2025 theme, Power in Community, focuses on the vital role that support networks and connection play in mental health. For teenagers - who are often navigating independence, identity, and increased social pressure - understanding the protective power of a caring community is essential.
This worksheet provides a focussed space for students to reflect on how they experience support and connection, and how their own actions can uplift others. It reinforces the idea that being part of a community isn’t passive, it's shaped by how we show up for each other.
