Week Four, Activity Two - 5 Senses Quest - Adventurer Badge
This week, we're heading out on an important quest - to explore the world around us using our senses. Tuning into our senses helps us feel calm, present and connected, and is a great boost for our wellbeing.
Spending time in nature also helps calm our minds, lift our moods, and reduce stress. Using your senses is a form of mindfulness, it helps you focus on the here and now, which gives your brain a break from worries or distractions.
About this activity:
Start by choosing your adventure location, somewhere new, wild or wonderful! Then work through each sense on the Quest Map. Head out and encourage your child to listen carefully, look closely, and explore nature mindfully. They can draw, write, or even collect things you find.
Afterwards, reflect on how the quest made them feel, and help them recognise that using our senses is a great grounding activity we can do from anywhere at anytime when we feel big, overwhelming emotions!
