Be Happy Summer Camp - Week Six, Activity Two - Feel-Good Music

It's time for our final badge! For Week Six, Activity Two, we're finishing the Be Happy Summer Camp with a musical celebration and earning our Music Badge. Music can play a crucial role in uplifting our spirits, reducing stress and expressing emotions. This week, your child will explore the power of music through two engaging activities.

Activity 1: Feel-Good Playlist

  • Explore Music: Help your child discover songs that evoke happiness, energy or calmness. They might explore different genres and tracks to find what resonates with them.
  • Create the Playlist: Have your child select their top 10 feel-good songs and write them down on the provided sheet.
  • Dance and Enjoy: Play the playlist and encourage a fun dance session to elevate their mood.
  • Save the Playlist: Make sure they keep this playlist accessible to boost their mood whenever they need a lift.

Activity 2: Write a Summer Camp Song

  • Reflect on Summer: Ask your child to think about the highlights of their summer camp or break and use these memories to inspire their song.
  • Focus on Feelings: Encourage them to incorporate their feelings of joy, pride, or excitement into their lyrics.
  • Create the Song: Remind them that their song doesn’t need to rhyme—what matters is that it reflects their personal experiences and emotions.

Benefits

  • Emotional Expression: Using music helps children articulate and manage their emotions in a positive way.
  • Mood Enhancement: Creating a feel-good playlist and engaging in music activities can lift spirits and reduce stress.
  • Creativity Boost: Writing a personal song supports creativity and self-expression.
  • Emotional Reflection: Reflecting on positive summer experiences and emotions helps reinforce a positive mindset.
  • Stress Reduction: Dancing and listening to music can lower stress levels and improve overall well-being.
