Resource Info

Worries and You is a personalised worksheet to help children learn about their own physical responses to worry. It’s sometimes easy to spot the mental signs to worry such as racing, panicked thoughts, but our bodies give us many physical signs too that we could all do with noticing and jotting down.

Directions: Ask your child to think back to a time when they were worried and think about how their body felt. Did their heart beat fast or did their legs feel shaky? Maybe they felt sick or had a tummy ache. Ask your child to circle or colour in the parts on the body where they felt the worry.

You can explain that when we worry our bodies respond in certain ways to try and protect us, this helps us run away very fast if we need to. However, our bodies don’t always get it right and can react this way to a worry or threat that doesn’t really pose us any harm. This worksheet will help them notice their reaction to worry, so that they can get better at identifying when they are worrying and managing that worry when it appears.
