Grab the playdough and have some fun making funny, silly and educational emotion faces!
Play-doh Faces is a fun interactive activity designed for early years children. With the help of playdough and our face mats, children can engage in a mindful and imaginative activity that promotes emotional development and recognition of emotions.
This resource offers two templates to choose from, providing endless opportunities for children to create different faces and explore various expressions.
Directions: Print and laminate, then ask your children to mould and shape the playdough into different facial expressions. This provides a structured and interactive platform for children to explore and experiment with emotions.
Benefits:
• Recognising Emotions: Play-doh Faces enables children to actively engage in identifying and understanding emotions. By manipulating playdough to create different facial expressions, children develop their emotional literacy skills and learn to identify and associate specific emotions with corresponding facial features.
• Reading Faces and Expressions: Through the hands-on activity of moulding playdough faces, children enhance their ability to read and interpret facial expressions.
• Emotional Development: By engaging in the creative process of crafting playdough faces, children express and explore their own emotions. This resource encourages self-reflection, emotional expression, and self-regulation.
• Facilitating Open Conversation: Play-doh Faces promotes open and meaningful conversations about emotions. As children create and discuss the various expressions they sculpt, parents, professionals, and teachers can engage them in dialogues about feelings, empathy, and understanding.
• Mindful and Calming Activity: Working with playdough provides a sensory and tactile experience that can be soothing and calming for children. Play-doh Faces offers a mindful activity that promotes relaxation, concentration, and mindfulness, supporting children in managing their emotions and promoting a sense of well-being.
This is a wonderfully interactive and engaging resource that combines creativity, emotional development, and mindfulness. Simple to set up, easy to explore and fun to do – if you don’t mind the cleaning up!
