Expressive Emotions Watch: A Crafty Journey into Feelings

Our expressive Emotions Watch is a delightful activity designed to help children express their feelings in a playful and interactive way. This engaging craft invites children to cut, paste and create their very own emotions watch, which can help them to identify and communicate their emotions and self-regulate.

The Emotions Watch is more than a craft; it's a journey of creativity and emotional exploration. With simple instructions, children can cut out the watch and assemble it and then add it to their wrist! The watch becomes a canvas for emotions, featuring nine expressions that children are able to flip through and explore.

Key Features of the Emotions Watch:

Interactive Emotion Flip - The watch features a unique flip mechanism that allows children to explore and express nine different emotions. From joy to curiosity, each flip unveils a new emotion, turning the craft into a dynamic tool for communication.

Open Conversation Starter - The Emotions Watch opens the door to conversations about feelings. It becomes a tangible and fun way for children to share their emotions with caregivers, teachers and professionals.

How to Craft the Expressive Emotions Watch:

  1. Print on heavy paper. Cut out the watch and emotion circles.
  2. Fold the emotion circles in half. Stick the back of the top half of the first emotion circle to the back of the bottom half of the watch face. Repeat with the next emotion, glueing the back of the top half of the emotion circle to the back of the bottom half of the previous emotion circle.
  3. Repeat until all emotions are glued together. Glue onto the watch.
  4. Cut a small slit in the watch fastening. Place the watch on your child’s wrist and feed the strap through the slit. Secure in place.

Benefits of the Expressive Emotions Watch:

Encourages Communication - The interactive nature of the watch prompts children to communicate and talk their feelings, normalising openness and expression.

Promotes Emotional Awareness - By flipping through different emotions, children develop emotional literacy and self-regulation skills, recognising and understanding their needs and feelings.

Crafting as Therapy - The hands-on craft aspect serves as a therapeutic activity, allowing children to engage in a creative process whilst exploring their emotions.
