The 5,4,3,2,1 grounding technique is one of the most universal grounding techniques and one of the most effective. This technique uses your senses to feel grounded and present in your environment, which helps you to feel calm and centred.

This technique can help children who often feel overwhelmed, anxious or who may have panic attacks, by encouraging them to re-focus their mind and thoughts on their immediate surroundings and allows them to regain control.

Ease anxiety and help children feel calm fast: By focusing on their immediate environment and using their senses to explore the world around them, individuals can redirect their thoughts and alleviate anxiety and racing thoughts. Display this poster where you can see it for times of need!

By practicing this technique, children can learn a vital coping skill they can take into adulthood and can practise from anywhere, at any time.
