Emotionoes: Building Emotional Literacy Through Play!
Introduction:
Introducing Emotionoes , our playful twist on traditional dominoes that promotes emotional literacy and understanding in children. Perfect for schools, classrooms, or any setting where children learn how to identify, express and communicate emotions. Emotionoes offers a fun and interactive way for kids to explore and express a range of emotions while engaging in the timeless game of dominoes.
How to Play:
Emotionoes combines the classic gameplay of dominoes with the exploration of emotions, providing a dynamic and engaging experience for children:
- Set Up: Begin by printing, cutting out and laying out the Emotionoes tiles facedown on a flat surface.
- Gameplay - Players take turns matching the emotions depicted on the tiles, connecting them in a line just like traditional dominoes. For example, a tile showing a happy face can be matched with another happy face tile.
- Scoring - Encourage players to discuss the emotions depicted on each tile as they match them, fostering conversation and emotional awareness. Points can be awarded for identifying and discussing each emotion correctly.
- Winning - The game continues until all tiles have been matched or players agree to end the game. The player with the most points or first to use all their tiles wins!
Benefits of Emotionoes:
Promotes Emotional Literacy - Emotionoes helps children develop a deeper understanding of emotions and how to recognise and express them in themselves and others, enhancing emotional intelligence and empathy.
Encourages Communication - Through gameplay, children engage in meaningful discussions about emotions, fostering communication skills and creating a safe space for sharing feelings and experiences.
